ニシャル・リジャール
I am Dr. Nishchal Rijal, an orthopaedic surgeon from Nepal, and I am honoured to share a few words about my experience. I did a one-year clinical fellowship, as a fellow of the Takeda Science Foundation, at the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Tohoku University Hospital, learning about joint surgeries. Although I am Nepalese, Sendai is my birthplace, as I was born in Tohoku University Hospital at the time when my father had come here for his postgraduate study. When me and my wife came to Sendai, it was the first time that we had lived together outside of our country, so naturally, there were some challenges. But with the support of teachers, colleagues, and friends, our stay was enjoyable and fruitful.
I had a great experience interacting with and learning from the doctors of the knee, hip, shoulder, and rheumatology teams. I was able to update my skills and knowledge in arthroscopy and arthroplasty as a result. I was able to observe and assist in a wide range of surgical procedures as well as learn about the use of musculoskeletal ultrasonography. I also got the opportunity to participate in clinical research along with the writing of an original research paper, and I learned a lot from this endeavour. Likewise, I was fortunate to meet and learn together with fellows from other countries as well. The working environment was very friendly, and the doctors were helpful and kind to me, and I would like to thank them all.
I am deeply thankful to Prof. Aizawa Sensei for helping my dream of studying in Japan come true, and I am extremely grateful to the Takeda Science Foundation for their support as well.
私はネパール出身の整形外科医、ニシャル・リジャールです。私は武田科学振興財団のフェローとして、東北大学病院整形外科で1年間の臨床研修を行い、関節手術について学びました。私はネパール人ですが、仙台は私の生まれ故郷です。というのも、父が大学院留学のために東北大学病院に来ていたときに、私は東北大学病院で生まれたからです。私と妻が仙台に来たとき、国外で一緒に暮らすのは初めてのことでしたから、当然困難もありました。しかし、先生や同僚、友人たちのサポートがあり、私たちの滞在は楽しく実り多いものでした。
膝、股関節、肩、リウマチの各チームの医師たちと交流し、学ぶことができたのは、とてもいい経験でした。その結果、関節鏡や人工関節置換術の技術や知識を更新することができました。幅広い手術手技を見学し、補助することができただけでなく、超音波検査の使用法についても学ぶこともできました。また、原著論文の執筆とともに臨床研究に参加する機会にも恵まれ、この取り組みから多くのことを学びました。他の国からのフェローとも出会い、共に学ぶことができました。職場環境はとてもフレンドリーであり、先生方は私に親切に接してくださいました。
私の日本留学の夢をかなえてくださった相澤先生に深く感謝するとともに、武田科学振興財団にも大変感謝しています。
